SAUK COUNTY, WI — A 51-year-old Hill Point man died last Friday morning after a single-vehicle collision on County Road GG near Bear Creek, reports Channel 3000.

The fatal accident happened in an area east of County Road G, just past the entrance to White Mound County Park, shortly before 6:16 a.m.

An early investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office indicates the man was behind the wheel of a 2006 Chevrolet Impala heading eastbound when he lost control of the vehicle and hit multiple trees. Authorities said the man appeared to not have been wearing a seat belt, as he was found ejected, lying unresponsive outside the car.

The victim was transported by airlift to University Hospital in Madison, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.

A section of County Road GG was shut down during the response and investigation.

No further information has been shared, but authorities believe the victim was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
