DOUGLAS COUNTY, WI — One person was critically injured Saturday night after being run over by a squad car in Superior’s North End neighborhood, reports We Are Green Bay.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Tower Avenue and North 8th Street shortly after 9:30 p.m.
According to the Department of Justice, a Superior police officer had unknowingly run over the victim minutes before receiving a call about an injured person in the road.
The victim suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a local hospital.
It was not immediately clear whether the pedestrian was hurt before the incident.
An investigation is currently being led by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
Authorities said the involved officer has since been placed on administrative assignment, in accordance with the Superior Police Department policy.
