MILWAUKEE, WI — Five people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash during a police chase in Milwaukee’s Long View area, reports CBS58.
Milwaukee police said the collision occurred at North 76th Street and West Villard Avenue shortly after 1:35 p.m.
The events unfolded when an officer spotted a reckless vehicle near North 61st Street and West Capitol Drive that was connected to an armed robbery. The officer tried to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver failed to yield, prompting a pursuit.
Shortly after, the suspect vehicle ran a red light and struck another vehicle.
Police said the driver, a 17-year-old boy, was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
His two passengers and two drivers of other involved cars also suffered non-fatal injuries and were treated at a nearby hospital.
Authorities said at least eight vehicles were totaled in the incident, including cars parked at the nearby Hart Auto shop.
