OCONTO COUNTY, WI — A 56-year-old woman died Wednesday morning after a snowmobile accident that seriously hurt another at a Lakewood intersection, according to NBC26 Green Bay.
The fatal collision took place at the corner of McCabe Road and Lake John Road at approximately 10;54 a.m.
An early investigation indicates the woman and a 57-year-old man, both from Wausaukee, were riding in the snowmobile when the vehicle ran off the roadway and hit a tree. Responding deputies found two victims, a woman and a man, ejected from a snowmobile.
Both victims were rushed to an Antigo hospital, where the woman later died from her injuries. No further details have been disclosed regarding the condition of the male victim.
The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources continue to investigate.
