RACINE COUNTY, WI — A 63-year-old man was critically injured last Friday afternoon in an ATV crash at Browns Lake in Burlington, according to FOX6 Milwaukee.
The incident occurred about 200 yards west of the lake’s Cedar Park Beach on January 14 at approximately 3:45 p.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the operator of the ATV lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn.
The Racine County Sheriff’s Office said the man was found lying unconscious on the ice and turning blue. Authorities did not confirm whether the victim was the driver or a passenger in the ATV.
Sheriff’s deputies and first responders from Burlington and Rochester applied life-saving measures and treatment at the scene. The victim was initially transported to a hospital but then soon airlifted to a regional trauma center.
An investigation by the RCSO and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources remains ongoing, but reckless operation and intoxication are suspected factors in the crash.
