MILWAUKEE, WI — A 22-year-old man crashed a stolen MPD squad car into another vehicle Thursday night after firing multiple gunshots at an officer near Marquette University in downtown Milwaukee, reports CBS58.

Shortly after, the suspect collided with another driver and attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended by other officers a short distance away.

Authorities said the injured officer, a 26-year-old man, suffered three gunshot wounds and was rushed to Froedtert Hospital, but is expected to survive.

The suspect, a 22-year-old man, was taken into custody and also hospitalized for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

It was unclear whether or not anyone in the victim vehicle was injured.
