MILWAUKEE, WI — A 34-year-old man died Tuesday, three days after being ejected in a crash while hanging out of a car in the Lindsay Heights area of Milwaukee, according to FOX6 Milwaukee.
The fatal incident occurred at the corner of North 10th Street and West North Avenue on Saturday, December 11, at around 5:20 p.m.
An early investigation indicates a 64-year-old man was sitting in a parked black Neon when two people walked toward the vehicle. The man began driving away just as the 34-year-old victim threw himself into the driver’s seat. The driver continued maneuvering the Neon while the victim was hanging and struck in the driver’s side window.
As the Neon continued traveling, it struck a male pedestrian walking in the parking lot. Authorities said that person was able to walk away and has not been located. The car then hit an illegally parked Ford Fusion, whose sole occupant was uninjured.
As the man continued to drive, he veered eastbound into a westbound bike lane, then swerved into westbound traffic where he collided head-on with a black Jeep Grand Cherokee. The driver of the Jeep fled the scene on foot and has not been found.
At one point, the 34-year-old victim was ejected from the Neon. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital.
Authorities said the 64-year-old driver has since been arrested for suspected DUI.
The case is being handled by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
