WASHINGTON COUNTY, WI — A 3-year-old child was injured Monday afternoon when they were struck in front of a Richfield residence, according to CBS58.
Authorities said the incident occurred in the home’s driveway at approximately 3:51 p.m.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said a family member had been moving vehicles in the driveway when the child approached a car without the driver’s knowledge. At one point, the child became trapped under the moving vehicle and was believed to have been run over by a tire before the driver was alerted.
Richfield Fire Department crews rushed the victim to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin after an evaluation.
Deputies later learned the child sustained no serious injuries, but would be monitored at the hospital as a precautionary measure.
An early investigation shows the incident was accidental in nature.
