MARINETTE COUNTY, WI — A 67-year-old woman died Saturday morning after a two-vehicle accident involving a semi-trailer truck on U.S. Highway 41 near the Town of Grover, according to We Are Green Bay.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened on the northbound highway near Kasal Lane at around 5:00 a.m.
An early investigation shows the woman was driving a four-door passenger car when she either tried to pull onto the northbound highway from the median, or tried to cross to Kasal Lane heading toward the Eagle Express truck stop.
Authorities said as her car entered the highway, it collided with a northbound semi-truck traveling with a loaded dump trailer. The impact of the crash sent the semi rolling into a ditch as the car spun out into the southbound lanes.
The woman, who was ejected from the car, died from her injuries at the scene.
Crews worked to extricate the driver of the semi from the overturned wreckage. He was then rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
An investigation into the accident remains in progress.
