WAUKESHA, WI – Five people were killed and dozens more suffered injuries when a driver barreled through the Waukesha Christmas parade on Sunday.
According to the New York Times, the incident occurred shortly before 4:40 p.m. when the driver of a red SUV plowed throw the barricades and into the crowd.
The SUV struck dozens of people, leaving at least five dead in its wake. Nearly 50 additional victims were hospitalized, including 15 juveniles.
Police say the driver responsible for the deadly act, Darrell Brooks Jr., was involved in a domestic disturbance prior to the crash and has a record of dangerous behavior. He was arrested and charged with 5 counts of intentional homicide.
