Charles Hausmann Personal Injury Attorney
Attorney Charles Hausmann is a Milwaukee native who attended Marquette University High School and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School in 1971. After graduating from law school he accepted a position as an Assistant District Attorney in Milwaukee County trying criminal cases from disorderly conduct to first degree murder. In addition to criminal cases he prosecuted consumer fraud and environmental cases.
After gaining valuable and extensive courtroom trial experience he and his high school friend, John F. McNally, opened the Lindner Law LLC., law firm. The firm originated in downtown Milwaukee over 40 years ago and presently has fifteen offices in seven states and employs over 100 people.
Charles has tried a large number and wide variety of cases and has received multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements in cases relating to vehicle accidents, unsafe vehicle design (crashworthiness cases), medical malpractice, unsafe premises and wrongful death cases. The Hausmann-McNally law firm has grown into one of the largest and most successful law firms in the Midwest based upon quality, competent representation and sincerely caring for our clients.
Charles has been a guest lecturer at the University of Wisconsin Law School on trial practice and a guest presenter at many professional conferences on a variety of topics, especially jury selection- which is an area of special interest. He has also lectured at Marquette University Law School and the University of Wisconsin Law School on Legal Ethics. He is a member of the Wisconsin Bar and the American Association for Justice, a lifetime member and former board member of the Wisconsin Association of Justice.
In his community and volunteer life, Charles has worked with the inner city of Milwaukee community where he grew up. Projects have included the development and maintenance of Victory Over Violence Park on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive where he is found most weekends working and maintaining the park that he has designed and built in memory of inner city youths who have died from the scourge of gun violence. He has also served on the board of the West End Development Corporation dedicated to improving Milwaukee’s near west side, providing affordable housing and attractive business properties. He has purchased and redeveloped several blighted properties in the deteriorated neighborhood where he grew up. A neighborhood mural he commissioned, The Phoenix Rising, has become a symbol of inspiration for the neighborhood’s revitalization. Just recently, 2013, he was the first recipient of the “Charles L. Walton Image Award” from Career Youth Development for a community leader that has selflessly given of themselves in service to others.
In 1989, Charles started the “People’s Law School” to inform community residents of their rights as consumers and tenants to help them fully participate in the American justice system. The program, developed and financed by the Lindner Law LLC., for five years was subsequently handed over to the Wisconsin Association of Minority Attorneys (WAMA) in 1994. He also established a special “Economic Summit Program’ along with Career Youth Development (a Milwaukee inner city social service agency) to inform people of economic opportunities on issues including credit, finances, mortgages and business initiation.
He was named “Attorney of the Year” and “Attorney of the Decade” by Career Youth Development for his work in the community.
Of all the professional and personal accomplishments of Charles’ career he is proudest of his family life, which consists of his wife Jean, five daughters and seven grandchildren.
